The last day of this internship came really fast and I would honestly do this all over again in a heartbeat. I enjoyed myself so much this summer, meeting new friends and learning new skills. I think back to the time I walked into the Met and only knew 8 people. Eventually, I was walking into Studio in a School, seeing 30 friendly faces. I never would've thought of making friends with kids from outside my borough but now I'm friends with Darnell from the Bronx and Joel from Staten Island.
Ending the day and internship at Wave Hill was perfect. Sitting in the grass and reflecting on our six weeks with Kapena and Tasnima was so sweet and joyful. Hearing all the laughs and memories we all shared showed how much we bonded within that short amount of time. We have all come so far since the beginning of this internship and now we leave with a brighter mindset, a clearer future and a family that I know I will never forget.

This week was very exciting because of the many events that kept me busy. From the dress rehearsal for the final presentations to the party at Roulette Intermedium, I have enjoyed reflecting on the summer with my fellow interns and finally completing the presentation I worked on all summer. I am glad that I got to see my hard work pay off when I gave my presentation, and I was especially glad to find out that my supervisor enjoyed it. This week has also made me want to keep in contact with everyone I have met this summer. We have all gone on a journey together and I was able to learn some valuable skills from everyone who surrounded me, including presentation and communication skills. The event at Roulette Intermedium has even made me want to spend more time with the friends I have made. I am starting to see exactly how much I gained from my fellow interns, my worksite and Studio in a School.

Today Group B went to the Whitney Museum and the Bloomberg Headquarters. The Whitney was a wonderful museum filled with so much meaningful art. I really enjoyed going there. I think that the Bloomberg Headquarters was one of my favorite places I visited this summer. Going to the headquarters is an opportunity that most people will never have. We got to see people working in a beautiful work place. I feel as though working there would be a dream. After our trips, we went back to Studio in a School for pizza and to have a last meet up with everyone in the internship before we went to Lincoln Center. There, we had the honor of seeing The King and I. The end of the internship is very bittersweet for me. Going into this program, I had no idea what to expect. I especially didn't think I was going to get close to anyone and I was surprised at how many amazing friends I made. I also had the opportunity to express myself and not be afraid of being judged. No one in the program thinks poorly of anyone and everyone is your biggest supporter. This internship allowed me to see things differently and definitely changed the person I am for the better. For example, I see things in a piece of artwork that I may not have realized before. Along with that, I have a better understanding of colleges and how to get to where I want to go. I want to especially thank MJ for being an amazing mentor along with Julie, Chelsea, and Mario for offering me help with the college process and guiding me in the right direction. It has been a complete honor to have been accepted into this program. Thank you so much Studio in a School.

The journey finally comes to an end. I can’t believe that I was able to meet such amazing interns, mentors and supervisors. If I had never been a part of this internship, I wouldn’t know what to do. The amount of helping hands that were put my way has helped me grow into the person I am today. I didn’t know my city. I didn’t know the amount of wonderful people there could be in a city full of “zombies.” I didn’t know what I was going to do for college. I didn’t know what I was going to do in life. If I could, I would do this summer internship all over again. Thank you for this amazing experience, Studio in a School, as well as Bloomberg Philanthropies. Thank you to my wonderful mentors Tyra, Tasnima and MJ. Thank you to my inspiring supervisors Chelsea, Julie and Jeffrey. 6 weeks have gone by and it feels like a year.

While today was the end of our six-week long internship, the bridges we built will last forever. All the connections and the friendships we’ve made are not over. All the lessons we’ve learned, both professional and artistic will be everlasting.
I have learned so much about New York City. I have the rest of the summer to continue exploring, further immersing myself in the arts, and hopefully even convincing some of my other friends to reap the benefits that NYC has to offer. With countless opportunities in nearly every field of art, I now know more people and places, and the chances for me are endless. Thank you Studio in a School for this amazing experience.

I will definitely miss being around my supervisor and mentors. Everyone I have met this summer has taught me something, which I am very grateful for. Being around a work environment and having to perform in a professional matter has taught me a lot about the work field. I am very excited to start my career thanks to Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Dance Theater of Harlem.

This will be my final blog post and I cannot believe that six weeks has passed by. All that I have seen and experienced cannot be expressed through words. It was amazing to visit places such as the MoMA, the Whitney Museum, the New York Botanical Garden, and PS1. I had so much fun, especially at the Nuyorican Cafe where everyone got to perform and showcase their talents. Chankele was especially hilarious and I couldn't stop myself from laughing. Through this internship, I also got the opportunity to work on my presentation skills thanks to Jay and Doug. I would like to give a big thank you to Denise for helping me out with my college essay; I am truly grateful for that.
This summer I did not know what I was going to do. I would have been stuck at home and not making any new friends but thanks to this internship, I met so many wonderful people from my group. Group C was the best and we had so much fun together. I will miss Chelsea and Tyra and all of their positive energy. I would also like to thank Julie for being so amazing and for helping us out with the college process.
I am also going to miss working in the Brooklyn Children's Museum. I got to work with so many wonderful kids and I will miss going to the garden and helping them out with the plants. My co-supervisors were really nice and they helped us out with whatever issues we had with the laptops. I am going to miss going to the different exhibits at the museum and getting to touch the animals. It was such an amazing place and I got to learn about the importance of literacy to young children.
Yesterday, at Lincoln Center, was our last time spent as a group. I still couldn’t believe that this internship is over. I will miss everyone dearly and I hope I see them soon.

I hate goodbyes! Sometimes it’s a well-deserved seal on an ending chapter. Other times it’s just an abrupt discontinuation or a forced cliff hanger ending to a time so valuable. But in any case, I feel like goodbyes always bring with them a medley of feelings, mostly melancholy.
This week I said goodbye to many people. Goodbye to “Trip Mondays” with Chelsea, to “Free Lunch Tuesdays” at Studio, to Denise the writing coach, and to share-outs with the others. I had to say goodbye to “The Urban Garden”, the groundskeepers and the desk attendant I greeted in the mornings, and most importantly to Kaitlyn and Elisabeth, “the Dynamic Duo,” with their efforts to shake down money every day. I said goodbye to my friends, especially my “Haitian Crew” (they know who they are). All of these people made my summer so special.
After the program ends, I’ll go on my own enrichment trips, find someone else to give me free lunch (probably using the newfound fundraising skills I have), and continue to practice the skills of “good writing.” Julie and the “Dynamic Duo” haven’t heard the last of me! And my newfound friends and I will stalk each other’s lives on Snapchat… if nothing else… Ultimately, what I’m trying to say is the goodbyes that happened this week were, on the contrary, just hellos to future friends.
